Great plant powered smoothie bowl topped with bananas and a drizzle of tahini. I love these two together in any form or shape so today I just thought of adding them to my smoothies as well.
Tahini is just a paste made from ground sesame seeds and you can use it like you would with your nut butter or in salad dressings, sauces, cookies, cakes, any treat really and spooned on sweet potatoes with some cinnamon is just perfection!
Sesame seeds are a rich source of calcium, zinc, magnesium, copper, selenium that promote bone, muscle, tissues and immune health and function. All these minerals along with other compounds such as antioxidants and phytosterols make these seeds a great ally to lower blood pressure, manage blood sugar and cholesterol levels and reduce inflammation in the body.
Paired with fibre and potassium rich bananas which provide complex carbohydrates that are easily digested and slowly released on the body makes this smoothie great after a workout or simply a delicious and nutritious way to start the day!
Place all the ingredients except the tahini and sliced banana in a blender or food processor.
Blend until smooth.
Transfer to a serving bowl and top with the banana slices and a drizzle of the tahini.
Can add some cacao nibs or a few of your favourite nuts or seeds for an extra crunch. Enjoy!
