Nutella is a popular household favourite, however many shop bought versions are packed with oil, sugar and other unnecessary add-ins. Made from just 3 simple ingredients, this homemade recipe tastes just as good as the original as well as being packed with nutrients.

Cooking Stages

    • Spread the hazelnuts in a baking tray in a single layer and roast for approx. 12 minutes (this releases the natural oils and loosens the skins, making them easier to blend into a butter).

    • Remove from oven and leave to cool slightly. Transfer to a large tea towel and use your hands to roll the nuts around and remove most of the skins. It doesn't have to be perfect but get as much as possible off as it makes for a creamier Nutella.

    • Leaving the excess skins behind, add nuts to a food processor or high-powered blender and blend until very runny. This can take up to 10 minutes.

    • Add the Super-Cacao Powder, maple syrup or honey and salt (if using) and blend again. It will thicken up at first but keep blending and it will smooth out.

    • Transfer to a jar and store at room temperature. Enjoy!

    • *Note: The more sweetener you add, the thicker/stiffer the Nutella will be.
